Basic Mechanical Drawings
After some basic sketching techniques and some preliminary sketching we were ready to begin drawing. The base plate and gasket shown above are two of the first drawings I completed. These drawings were simple yet allowed practice with techniques such as a compass and the spacing of dashes on a center line.

Dimensioning
Dimensioning a drawing is the only way for the drafts person to communicate with the fabricator of whatever object they are drawing. Therefore, it is very important to maintain a uniform style, much like a language. This ensures that both people involved are reading the same drawing the same way in order to minimize mistakes. The rules of dimensioning were used and applied throughout the rest of the semester on most drawings that we completed.
